I just got the battery replaced on my Mini 4 days before the warranty expired... :p

was thinking that this would be a good time seeing as how it just got a new lease of life...Was thinking about the 4GB Nano cos i need something small and light as I mostly use my iPod on the go..

@Nano users....opinions ? I remember reading earlier on when the Nano was first introduced, there were a few problems..forget what they were..

How is it now ? Gooot ? :)

I went from Nano to Mini...

Nano is too flimsy - feels like it could break easily. Poor battery life, just happier with a Mini tbh.
 
schucks...really ? i too felt i might just break it a like a Kit Kat bar or something..

I have not used anything before my Nano, mostly because I was waiting for something exactly like the nano to come out. Battery life is roughly 4-5 hours, lasts weekends where I drive 2-2.5 hours from school and then back again without a recharge.

I do not understand what is meant by flimsy, it feels very solid. It is very light and survives through a lot. It is still perfect after going through months of being strapped to my arm while lifting weights, kickboxing on a heavybag, and running for a couple miles as well every other day.

The only complaint I ever heard, and agree with, is that it seems to scratch easily. Mines has many scratches, though most came from when I did not have the rubber jacket. There are kits out there to polish the scratches out though.

In the end, I love my purchase and do not regret it at all. The only thing that would make it better would be to release a Nano with, say, 6-8GB. The color screen rocks as well!
 
Scratches easily, but definitely not flimsy. Try and break it. A friend of mine drops it and throws it sometimes and its good as new (minus the scratches).
 
suppose if i get the white one..scratches wont be sooo noticeable...along with a jacket of course..
 
The Nano might feel flimsy, but it's not.

One of the tech sites did a test where they ran it over with a car (amongst other things) and the bloody thing survived until they dropped it from a 30 (!) foot height.
 
as the owner of a broken nano, while it is pretty indestructable, I got a dent on the back of mine which pretty much fubared it because the battery was right underneath. It was a TINY TINY dent, but the thing got fucked up. I think i may have run into a desk corner or something when it was in my pocket, so it's not like a common occurance or anything.
 
I have a 2Gb black nano and its great.

Build quality is good and only gets scratches if you are not careful with it. Currently I have mine inside a little pouch that game with my Sony Fontopia headphones. The actually nano itself is indeed very solidly built and I believe it was an arstechnica article that tested the nano, doing everything including throwing it out of a car and it still played music.

Battery life isn't the greatest compared to other mp3 players at about 14hrs max but is good enough since all you need is a computer handy to charge it.

My advice would be to go for it but just take care of it unless you don't mind it getting scratched.

Wait your saying a solid state flash memory mp3 player seems more flimsy then a hard drive based mp3 player? I dropped my nano tons of time without a problem. I dropped my creative micro 5 times and it died. Give me solid state memory any day over hard drives

Agreed. It may feel flimsy but thats mainly due to the thinness.
