metroid prime hunters

Did you get it? Is it good? The reviewers seem to love it. My copy is (hopefully) somewhere over the Atlantic right now, and should arrive here tomorrow or Friday.

I've played it.

The game is pretty good but the controls suck ass. Playing Metroid on the stock Gamecube controller for a while starts to become really uncomfortable but playing on the DS for more than 5-10 min is almost unbearable. I tried using the thumb-nub thing which was great but with that you can't switch to scanning visor or do any type of precision touching. If you want to use the touchpad you have to use the stylus. Trying to control look with the stylus, movement with the d-pad or buttons and firing with the shoulder buttons is rediculous.

Yeah I'm wary about this game for control reasons. I played a little of the demo and thought it was pretty bad. I think my friend is buying it though so I should be able to try it out.

I'm not worried about the controls really, I owned with the stylus on First Hunt with no discomfort. I also played Prime on the cube for about 8 hours straight with no problem.

I find the gamecube controller perfect for Metroid Prime. I played the demo of Hunters with my friend for about an hour straight, by the end of that hour I was pretty used to the controls. It will take adjusting, and it will be uncomfortable at first, theres no doubt about that. Just give it a chance.

Shock Coil=gg online :(

I played my first match online and couldn't touch the guy because my crosshairs were bouncing all over because that stupid gun hits nonstop.

I think you just need to practice a bit more with the thumb nub, it's got plenty of precision, and you CAN go the visor, weapon switching, etc. with no troubles. I played through about 30 minutes of the single player to get myself really comfortable with the controls, then went online. I only lost one match, and that was mainly because one of the other guys kept killing one of the players who just didn't get it over and over again.

The controls are easily the best of any FPS on a console, portable or otherwise. The touch screen with the little thumb nub is damn near as accurate as a Mouse.

Ok well I just found that if you are Trace online and you get the Judicator or whatever the sniper is your opponents get really frantic when they can't see you :D

It's good they implemented headshots, don't know how many times it takes to die from the sniper to the body but one to the head is what I was doing. :)

I don't need practice with the thumb numb. It simply is not accurate enough to work for me. I've tried quite a few times now and it is worthless.

This is about 10 times more accurate than an analog stick. You obviously still have to get used to it still, cb9fl... it works just great after the initial high learning curve.

Try using the stylus. I find it works better. You just need to position the DS in a way that doesn't force you to support its weight with one hand.

I really like it. The controls are fine for me. The stylus seems to work best for me. I tried the thumb stylus, but I couldnt select the scan visor or hit the alt form button in the lower right corner of the touch screen very well with it. I suppose with some practice I could use it well, but the pen stylus is doing me just fine.
