memory interface vs. memory clock

Would a card with a memory clock of 1400mhz and 256-bit memory interface normally be superior to a card with 1600mhz and a 128-bit memory interface?

I'm trying to learn about video cards. ;\
 
you are looking at 15% faster clock speed vs an interface twice as large.

the 128 bit card is going to lose out to the wider "lane" in every way on current games, especially at higher resolutions.
 
To see the difference, just do a 1400 x 256 and compare it to 1600 x 128. Without using any units, that is the difference in memory bandwidth. That said, 1000 MHz @ 256-bit = 32 GB/s, so you are comparing 44.8 GB/s vs. 25.6 GB/s.
