So, I am setting up MDT 2010 to use as our primary means of configuring, managing, and installing Windows 7 x64 Professional images to every computer on our company network (about 400).
I have been able to successfully set up a task sequence that will install Windows, run updates, install Office 2010, Firefox, Citrix Access Gateway Plugin, and configure just a few settings (I'm only just getting started). Unfortunately, for some of the more complicated silent unattended installs (Flash player, quicktime, java), I am running into some strange problems to which I cannot find the cause...
I'm trying to run .bat files to run the command-line commands for this software, as well as disable UAC, copy over and apply a power plan file, and delete some start menu items. I have attempted to do this by doing the following steps:
1. Create Application with source folder that contains my script to delete start menu items (very simple script, just del /q/s "PATH")
1.1 In the "quiet install command" field, I enter "startmenucleaner.bat" and the working directory is the Batches folder I specified earlier.
2. Create Task Sequence called "Applications Only" that has one task - Install Single Application: StartMenuCleaner
3. I then go to the reference computer and run litetouch.vbs from the deployment share, select the task sequence and the StartMenuCleaner application, then it runs and throws an error code (1). I have checked the logs in MINNINT, but none of them are descriptive enough to tell what is causing the error (though I am assuming it's just a typical 'failed to execute command' error code).
This happens with EVERY batch file that I try to run, no matter what the contents are. I even tried to create one that just launched notepad.exe and waited until it was closed, but this also did not run successfully. I am logging in with Admin credentials (for both the local PC and the deployment share) and
Is there something I am not doing correctly when trying to execute a simple batch file through MDT 2010?
Any suggestions/help with this issue would be much appreciated. I'm literally stressed at my max with this problem that seems like it should be so simple to execute correctly.
Thank you kindly,
Tyler J
