I moved my computer into a new case now I can't get it to turn on at all. After I finished moving everything over the first time i hit the power button it turned on for two seconds then shut off immediately. So I hit the power button against and it froze at the bios boot screen. I unplugged everything and opened the case up to check for shorts. I didn't see anything shorting but I tried reseating the video card and I unpugged the front usb connector. Now my computer is dead. The monitor goes into sleep mode when I flip the surge protector on but the nothing happens at all when I push the computer power button. The video card is getting power I think.

The case I bought is the rosewill r5604. The motherboard standoffs are built into the case and everything lined up perfectly when I was installing the motherboard. Any idea what could be wrong? Thanks.
 
check under the motherboard.. also make sure the screws arent hanging over the insulated area.. also make sure there arent any stand offs behind the motherboard that you might of missed.. if your totally sure there arent any shorts.. pull the cmos battery and unplug the 20+4 cable from the motherboard.. leave it that way for a couple minutes..
then plug it all back in and try again..
 
Pull everything out and do a barebones bench test on a cardboard box. Instructions are at the bottom of the Basic Troubleshooting Guide sticky thread.
 
Well i pulled the motherboard out to recheck the standoffs. There are 9 standoffs built into the tray and my board covers 6 of them. There's no other raised metal where the board sits. I pulled the cmos battery out for a bit then put everything back into the case. I tried to boot with just the video card, no case fans plugged in. Still nothing.

Guess I will try booting outside the case later. Very frustrating... :mad:
