I've tried three different processors on two motherboards with the same problem. It will power on, but nothing is displayed. Is it possible that I need a better power supply? What could be the issue?

Have you tried a different video card? If your using built-in motherboard video and its still not working with 2 different motherboards then I'm not sure. Do you get anything on your monitor like a green light or is it just orange and in standby mode?

It might help of you list the hardware you have. If it is P4, are you using a the extra 4 pin header from the power supply?

MSI 865PE Neo3 and 915GM on Intel chips. The former does not require the 4 additional pins. Would that prevent it form booting?

Hook up your speaker and tell us if it beeps.
No sound.

A series of beeps may have pointed to a video problem. Do you have a loaner power supply you could try?

I mean the square 4 pin header (normally with yellow and black wires). Almost every P4 mobo I have used has required this. Systems will generally not POST without the header plugged in.

(I'm not referring to a 24 pin power supply- most systems with a 24 pin ATX header will POST with only a 20 pin PS, but they may not be totally stable)

No beeps generally means bad mobo or CPU. But not hooking up the 4 pin header may cause the same problem.
