Mac Mini (2012) Crashing?

Hey guys. I'm not an Apple guru, however my boss made the executive decision to replace the functional windows machines our graphics designers use with a brand new iMac (which is fine) and a brand new Mac Mini (which isn't).

It seems whenever he opens any sort of production file and edits it for 5-10 minutes, photoshop will just crash the application or lock up the machine completely..

Ideas?
 
Yeah, sounds Photoshop is consuming enough system resources for OSX to quit the application. Confirm with activity monitor.
