I've been looking for a good pair of amplified desktop speakers for my PC & came across the M-Audio BX5A's & BX8A's as possible choices.

Problem is, I don't know what type of input connectors these are on the rear:

Can I simply get an adapter to convert these inputs to simple RCA/analog plugs?

Or is it not that easy?

FWIW, I'm also considering the:

M-Audio AV 40
Audioengine A5's
Behringer B2030A's / B2031A's and MS40's

Just got those myself. I use the TRS ports. First, get one of these:

3.5mm Stereo to Stereo RCA cable

Then get a pair of these:

RCA to 6.3mm Stereo adapter

Take the Y-cable, plug the 3.5mm end into your sound card. Put an adapter on each of the RCA ends. Plug the red cable into the right speaker TRS port, the white into the left. All done.

I know for certain RadioShack has both (since I got them both there), but for some reason I can't find the adapter on their website for some reason.

You're better off getting a 3.5mm TRS to 1/4" TS cable. Note TS... not TRS. Unless that RCA adapter is tying the ground and ring together, your going to get a really F'd up sounding set of speakers assuming you get any sound at all. Better to buy the right cable than string a bunch of adapters together.

Thanks for the replies!

Where could I purchase the cable you mentioned above???

Would this cable be correct???

that would be the one. most music stores will have them so you might be able to pick one up locally. radio shack should have them as well.

So far everything has been sounding A-Okay. Though obviously that cable you and Angus66 found is a much, much cleaner solution than what I suggested.
