Looking for messaging software

A friend of mine owns several retail outlets that have 2 to 4 computer kiosks for the employees at each location. I am looking for an instant message type service that would let the employees send a message to an individual computer or computers. The only issue is that I don't want something that can be tied to any other im service as we want the messaging to be strictly between those machines and no social media.

If anyone knows of something that fits the bill please let me know.

Openfire/Spark is pretty easy to setup and can be tied into AD if i remember correctly.

is now skype or skype for busniness. probably doesn't meet the social media requirement though the old lync was able to just be a stand alone i believe and with AD. (disclaimer: haven't used the new skype for business yet)

Lync server not cheap compaired to spark/openfire
