Logitech MX1000 Problems...

Ok, I bought this mouse today, and it is great, but one problem. In the setpoint thing, there is no "my mouse" tab, so I can't map any of the buttons, just the default (1, 2 and 3) work. I have the latest drivers as well, could someone please help?

Uninstall and reinstall is the only suggestion I can give you. I have the MX1000 and it is great and I do have the My Mouse tab. That is strange.

Are you using the drivers on the CD, or those available online from Logitech's website? The ones available for download may be newer.

C'mon, please help...it won't work...
Well I went to the Logitech site for you and went through their support section looking for a similar problem and came up empty.

It still works though, right? From what I understand, it will still be functional. You just won't be able to use some of the advanced programming.

Let me guess...

What brand Keyboard are you using? Are there specific drivers for it? I bet its a conflict between a keyboard+mouse combo software and your logitech mouse software.

Make sure to have the latest MouseWare program, and if the problem is with the mouse buttons in games then make sure to get the advanced tool off their website. I don't remember where it is on there, but I got to it through the "my mouse buttons don't work in games" support for my MX700 - I'm sure in that respect they're the same.

I'm betting that's the cause for your problem... Logitech stopped using MouseWare btw, SetPoint is the name of the current software and 2.14 is the latest version. I'd DL it and install it, might fix your problem... If you have trouble getting the Forward/Back buttons in Firefox just set them as Generic (under Other), they'll still work in every other app.

Oh and if your cursor jumps up/sides about two inches or all the way to the edge of the screen just return it and get another one, some deffective bases got shipped out... Had that happen with mine.

is it hooked up thru usb or ps2?
maybe full button controll is only available thru usb

Nah, it should work fully thru PS/2 (had mine hooked that way for a while due to the defective base that caused cursor to jump in USB only).

You might try, uninstall, cleaning your computer of any spy ware and defrag your hard drive and then reinstall.

Are you using a KVM(Keyboard, Video, Mouse) switch? I got the LX700(I think) and my KVM stopped my advanced mouse options from being available. It works fine when I plug the mouse directly into either of the PCs.

When I installed my MX1000 I set up the buttons thru the Logitech setup software that came with the mouse. I have a little Logitech icon on my system tray (bottom right of your screen) which I click on to customize the buttons.

humm let me guess you have a mx duo or elite duo or some other logitech mouse and keyboard combo and you want the mx to be on speaking terms with the old base station... Well that is not going to happen.... when i first got my mx 1000 i tried getting it to run with my mx duo base station well i got the mouse and keyboard working on it but set point was unable to detect that it was a compatable mx1000 instead my pc reconized my mouse as a 2nd keyboard mind you the buttons that were not extras still worked and it worked like a mouse it was not tracking as good as it should and i was missing 5 buttons the only way i found to have the problem fixed is to have the mx 1000 base station hooked up which in my case took up the last usb port i had all 6 of them now used.

so now i have a mx duo base station on there with out the power cord and a mx 1000 station the key board talks to the station it came with and the mx1000 talks to its own....

set point reconizes it and gives me the my mouse tab so i can do all the adjustments...

SetPoint will work while MouseWare or iTouch installed. We recommend that you uninstall MouseWare and/or iTouch if you no longer use the devices supported by those programs. Please refer to the Readme file on the SetPoint CD for addition information on SetPoint and MouseWare compatibility.

so if he installed SetPoint without removing the MouseWare software and is looking in the MouseWare screen the "my mouse" tab will not be displayed as control of the mouse would now be handled by the SetPoint software. could be an honest goof if he's just used to looking at the mouseware icon/tabs.

MX1000's use setpoint, not mouseware. It may very well be some sort of conflict with logitech's different driver sets.

Are you on a laptop by any chance? (I've run into laptop problems due to drivers for laptop touch pads/mouse sticks). If you are on laptop I'll post possible fixes, if not post you hardware/software specs & config- might help us troubleshoot better.

On my setpoint software install, the is no addition to the Mouse control panel. I have to go into the setpoint software in All programs>Logitech>Mice and Keyboards>settings.

To get the Forward and Back navigation buttons to work in any browser other than IE (Maxthon and Firefox), I had to manually assign the keystrokes to the forward and back buttons.

Forward - ALT+<right_arrow_key>
Back - ALT+<left_arrow_key>

Those are the same navigation keys that IE uses for forward and back, so I have no idea why making the change worked, but it did. It was especially confusing since Maxthon is just a shell around IE.

By the way the question came up in another forum... According to Logitech Tech USB is the preferred Connection....not PS2 like the book says (That was intended for 'Legacy" computers)

Ok, thanks all for hte help, but I figured it out. I was using a switcher so I can use 1 keyboard, mouse and monitor for 2 computers, and setpoint couldn't read the mouse options through it....so I can now with out the switcher, if only I had thought about this before

I just got the MX518 and Setpoint is not recognizing it, so My Mouse tab is not showing. I uninstalled Mouseware for my MX300. I have a Dell PS2 keyboard. I tried reinstalling, unplugging, sticking a pencil up my nose  , and leaning 4 degrees to the frigin left and it still won't find the damn thing. Anyone have any other ideas. The mouse functions ok. All the buttons work, but not sure about on the fly speed control.

It was probably thinking you were going to pass gas!

Seriously... I just got one and Setpoint installed fine... did you have any thing running in the background like Folding or Seti? Had to have mine off... to check the on the fly thingy just make a small circle with your cursor on your desktop. hit the plus key (Or minus) and see if the circle gets relatively larger or smaller.... if it does than it is working I get three easily discernible differences with mine.
