i recently had a windows problem and had to reinstall a few drivers.. well in the process it appears i installed a newer Mouseware driver than i had before and its not wokring correctly with CS:S. my mouse works fine for the general buttons, but i will no longer let me set and use either the thumb buttons (buttons 4 and 5) nor the scroll wheel button (button 3) i assume this is because the driver assigns these buttons to windows and wont let them be reassigned by a game. i use the thumb buttons on the mouse to change weapons, and the scroll wheel button i use for sprays.. so it really screws me up not having htem anymore.. its messing me up enough to where im not enjoying the game anymore because i cant switch my weapons fast enough..

does anyone know of which driver version it is i should use, i know there was/is a driver that let me use the buttons as i have been doing so for quite a while, i tried going with just the Windows drivers but they didnt "feel right"... any help on this would be greatly appreaciated. TiA

I have some pretty wonky issues with my mouseware drivers. I don't often have problems binding certain mouse buttons in games, but it will irratically 'rebind' itself. Button4 will still be bound in game, but for some reason or another it doesn't do anything in game. Typically, this is when the buttons don't want to be recognized in games, either.

Sorry I don't have much else to offer, except you're not alone. :)

I've got a MX-510 and never bothered with the Mouseware drivers / tools. Only one button doesn't "work", which is the "page" button. Everything else is good to go. I've got all the buttons bound to something or other.

Try cleaning off the mousware completely - you "should" be fine.

peace,
Tim
