Ok guys, I have had this 9800XT for a while now, I know when it came out it was the latest and greatest but that was back in 2003 and its showing its age now. I've been shopping around and I purchased an XFX 7800GS Xtreme Edition (AGP). I got the card and popped it in and I didn't seem to get any increase in performance at all. I play bf2 ALOT and my 9800XT will play on 1024x768 with stuff on high with not much of a problem at between 30-40 fps. I popped the 7800GS in and there was no increase but I played on the card for a few days anyways. Well I decided to send the 7800back but before I send it back I was wondering if anyone knows why I would gain nothing at all. I dont see my computer holding back the video card:

Specs:

AMD 64 3200+
1.5gig ddr400
500Watt PS

Any help would be appreciated.

but shouldn't the 7800GS have been smoother at the same rez as the 9800. I understand that the 7800 should outperform at the high rez but it couldn't even outperform at the lower rez to start with. It was exactly the same.

I read reviews of people with computers close to my specs being able to run bf2 at upwards of 100fps, yet I was maybe pushing 40.

Did you unload all drivers? driver clean?

7800GS should be getting more fps... but Battlefield runs better on Radeon cards...

I didn't do any "Driver Clean", but I did download the newest drivers and installed them immediatly with no problems.

Well you should have done some driver clean... At least unload all ATI drivers... delete anything ATI..

Gotta clean her out linky. This will make a profound difference; especially since you've switched teams
