I'm building my own case right now. The frame is aluminum and I just finished putting lexan sides on it, now I'm working on mounts for everything and am thinking. I had planned on just spray painting the inside of hte lexan so on the outside it would look very clean... but now its just sitting there with teh blue protective plastic on it... and I like it semi-transparent.

I was thinkinn about car window tint stickers.. I don't know how well that would look/work. Any other ideas?

There are different colors of tint. Pick up a scrap piece of lexan and tint it to see if you like it.

That should give you an idea of what it would look like if it were tinted.

If you look at this thread HERE in the worklogs you will see what security tint looks like. Mirror with lights off tinted whith lights on.

wow that works out well, thx for replies

maybe I should have searched more heh. I'm going to walmart tonight yay :/

I just used some Duplicolor Metalcast (light coat/coats) to create a nice translucent red on this plexiglass. Looks nice... and there are alot of colors. The Metalcast seems to be just gloss with some color added.

Pics?

Funny you should mention that, cause I was just thinking about that on my way home from..."I wonder what metalcast would look like on the inside of a plexi case?"

Sarver - nice case. Is it laser cut?

I tried painting the outside of acrylic but it was only so so. Inside looks better but you can't glue/attach anything to it or the joint will show. So it seems that the tint would either be just sections or on the outside, or both. Plan well, it could get tricky. Of course tricky is when it gets fun. :)
