I have to transfer files from internal laptop sata drive to desktop, The connections for sata and power are look and fit like 3.5" sata. The rated voltage on the Hard Drive is DC+5V
Am i good to go to plug it into my desktop motherboard and powersupply?
 
Yup, as stated above, it will work just fine. I, too, have done it multiple times.
