Keyboard and mouse for ps3?

You can use KB/M for web browsing and stuff. I believe the only current game that supports KB/M on the PS3 is UT3, but anyone can feel free to correct me if there are others. :)

Just got a ps3 myself. Are you talking about games or the browser?
I just plug in a usb mouse and i can surf the web with it just like a computer. As for games, i think UT3 is the only game that support kb/mouse for now. xbox360 fanboy can only dream about it.

Buy a PS3 to play a game with a mouse and keyboard when you could of just simply bought the same game for the PC. GG

I didnt buy UT3, not a fan of it. Surfing the web on my sofa on a 52lcd with wireless kb/mouse is great in between games.. I hope UT3 is just a start. hopfully many more games will support mouse/kb. I bought a ps3 and get rid of the xbox360 because of kb/mouse support, g25 wheel support, browser support, dedicated server for online gaming. The xbox360 has NONE of it. On top of that, you have to pay for LIVE.

which USB mouse are you using for PS3?
will this apply to USB keyboard also?

i would say almost any usb mouse and kb will work with the browser. i tried a cheap hp mouse and works like a charm.

The line between PC gaming and Console gaming is blurred a bit more. It's funny how everyone loves how their shiny new console can do something that PC's have done for over a decade. And also, to those stating about PC's being too much, and being able to play their $400 console on their big screen tvs. It's funny how you spend more then you spent on your computer on a tv, and then rag on how a computer that can run UT3 is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much.

First of all, PS3 is not the first console to allow M&KB support.

Second, its awesome that Epic put out UT3 with M&KB support this early into the PS3 life, hopefully other dev's will do the same, because I personally can't stand FPS games with the controller (I'll do it if I have to, but its not what I prefer). DreamCast allowed you to use a M&KB with Q3A, but that wasn't withen its first year of being on the market, so it wasn't something that caught on.

Lastly, the cost of your display is a mute point. What ever display I choose to use, I can use for either PC or console.

Let me make a simple equation for you.
A) Brand New PS3 80G (499.99) + HDTV (1799.99) = 2299.99
B) Brand New PC (depending on how godly you want it or not) (599.99 upto 1999.99) + HDTV (1799.99) = 2398.99 up to 3799.99

Cost: A < B

I dropped about a grand on my PC about 2 years ago, I now at the point where games are starting to look worse and worse. For me to be able to make games run smoothly, I have to turn down res and texture quality, which makes newer games look about as good as games that came out a few years ago. With out upgrading I'm not really able to see all of the new visual effects, and with out upgrading there are some games I simply cannot play.

Thus PC gaming is too expensive for me. I no longer live with my parents, I no longer have tons of extra money laying around, so things like a PS3 being able to play FPS games with a M&KB is kick-ass, because not only am I able to play all the games out right now, but I'll be able to play all the games in 08, 09, 2010, with out spending 1 penny on upgrading anything to just be able to play them.

yes they work perfectly.

now this could not be implemented on FPS games in PS3?:(...now that's weird.
Killzone UT3 and other FPS would be great if this does work...and i could just imagine how much more PC gamer would pick PS3 game

I use the exact same Logitech DiNovo bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo on my PC as I do my PS3. It basically sets up the same. You hit "find bluetooth devices" on your PS3 then hit the little white button on the bluetooth keyboard and/or mouse.

Both the 360 and PS3 have the ability to use kb/mice in games, however, it is up to MS and Sony on which games they allow it. MS was bashed A LOT in the previous generation for basically making a PC and calling it a console. While more PC functionality has a lot of advantages, it also brings to the table lazy developers who release first, patch later. MS this generation is drawing the line and attempting to make the 360 a legitimate console (which they have done quite successfully). They are currently not allowing ANY developer to use a kb/mouse for actual game controls.

The PS3 has a much more relaxed development mantra, where this is mostly left up to the developer, however all developers look to develop for a controller first since that is what all PS3 users have, and kb/mouse support later since it means extra game balancing issues.

What about the Frag FX mouse device for the PS3? Looks like it works decently well.

The FragFX is touchy. It works very well for games like R6:Vegas, resistance. But i have had trouble getting a good feel with it on games like Warhawk and UT3. it just wont config to a sensitivy and repsonsiveness with those games, i actually prefer to use the Sixaxis for those 2 titles.

But the aformentioned titles i prefer using the FragFX over the sixaxis.
