I have an ATI video card and I've heard from many people that any Java release that ends in .0 is not good to use cuz they cause problems for those with ATI cards...is this true? and what problems do they potentially cause??...the latest Java release is 1.5.0_01 (Update 1)...is it better to avoid this version and stick with version 1.4.2_06??

are the .0 release problems a thing of the past or have they been corrected and is it OK to use those versions now??

im willing to bet that thats total crap. 1.4.2 is the most used. 1.5.0 is the newest. either work. its up to you

I've had jdk1.5 since it came out and an 8500LE, no problems thusfar :)

jdk1.5 with a Radeon X800 Pro on my main box and a Radeon 9000 in my laptop, no problems.

Also, jdk1.5 on one of my work boxen, which has a Rage LT Pro. No problems there either.

The only thing i have ever noticed with ATI and java was that with some 1.4.2.0x version the swing2 demo ran horribly on my radion 9200 (the part with the twisting blob moving around the screen).
