Java or ASP.NET C# for web development

Not yet at least. Version 4 was somewhat aligned with the release of VS2012 and .NET 4.5.

New versions of it are usually previewed at Build anyways. The poster who is alarmed that a version 5 isn't out yet needs to remember that 4 was just released about 6 months ago. :p

On-topic: I'd probably suggest Java. I'm an ASP.NET developer and it's, um, easy to develop for and completely frustrating at times. ;)

Hah, but then again I am not sure there is anything that is easy with Java/JSP and I believe it was all architected/designed for the sole purpose of seeing how frustrating one can make it and still have people use it.

Servlets/JSP isn't so bad. EJB was designed by someone who hated developers though.
