...to start thinking about snowboarding season.

I am looking into getting a new mp3 player and set of headphones for this season. My requirements for the mp3 player are as follows:
1. sturdy, 'cause i fall a lot
2. not too expensive, 'cause i'm not made out of money and i fall a lot
3. easy interface. i would prefer something that i can adjust through my jacket, as it makes the wiring that much easier.
4. must withstand the cold. duh.

for headphones, i am currently using Sony behind the head supra-aural headphones. As you may imagine, this exposes my earlobes to the bitter New England cold. Actually, it is so cold that I can hardly stand it for more than a couple hours. So, my headphone requirements are as follows:
1. sturdy, 'cause i fall a lot.
2. warm. that is, they should either protect my ears from cold, or fit inside my ears so that I can put something over said ears to protect them from said cold.
3. steady. that is, they should be able to stay in place as I get jostled around.
4. not too expensive. you can imagine that these babys have a good shot at being more banged up than the actual mp3 player.
5. they should not require an amp, as i won't have one strapped to my back.

Currently i am using an mp3 CD player, but the battery life is abysmal and it is a little big. As mentioned above, the headphones are of the Sony behind the head variety.

Thanks, in advance, for your input!

PS I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. I'm not really sure where to put it.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention that some players I am considering are the MuVo 4Gb and the ipod mini. As far as headphones, I am thinking of something like the Etymotic ER-6. Thanks, again!

I would go solid state (flash memory, not hard drives) for reliability and sturdiness reasons.

Have you seen those 180 headband/earmuff things? You can either put their headphones inside of them or many other earbuds.

It would hurt if you were wearing canalphones and something either bumped your head or you landed on it.
