ok i own a 6800NU unlocked to 16/6. i have a althon xp 2800+ 1 gig 3200 ram.
what settings are u guys running becuz i have everything on high but whenever i try to put texture detail higher then medium. i start to lag... why is that? is this normal? i have aa on 4x and the other atrispoco at 8x. everything else is on high... is this unusual?

Try taking the AA off entirely and then crank the texture quality and see if anything changes.

lagg as in the game gets all choopy like mini lock ups? or laggy as in slow frame rate?

the 6800 only has 128MB of DDR; so your card could be swaping textures which would explain the lag. As has been said, try turning Anistropy and Anti Aliasing off and I would also look at turning down things like character detail to help drop the textures usage to below 128MB.

ok i set my AA to 2x. it seemed like everything was fine. then now i have these lock ups. its like everything stops and i hear the last sound that i hear and it keep repeatin itself. im not sure if its my sound or its my vcard now... my whole comp basicly restarts itself or it just gets stuck there. maybe i should just turn off AA. im not even sure if its my sound or my vcard...

might just be your whole computer. It's probably not just your videocard. BY the way... what game is this ?

Sounds to me like your video is locking up. Not really that uncommon with unlocked pipelines and or higher clock speeds.

I would try without unlocking the pipelines and see how it works for a while.

i agree with BBA 100%, i unlocked my evga and it was PERFECT for a while, but then my PSU started crapping out on the 12v, and it was hitching like yours, undo the softmod and just OC it :)

No problems at all with anything like that with my unlocked and OC'd 6800nu.

i think it has to do with my sound. i just undid the 16/6. it still hasn't changed. whats the command to bind the console to "`" ? so i can copy and paste the problem. btw i have no problems with other games...

What game are you even talking about?

CS:S. first it was the choppiness so i lowered my AA and that fixed it. now i just get freezes where the sound keeps makin the last noise i heard. sometimes the game comes back and sometimes it just restarts or something. keep in mind i have onboard sound which maybe can be the problem? i've heard cs:s having alot of problems... could this be one of them?

Go under keyboard and choose the advanced, you can click the check box that allows you to see the console.

I also have onboard sound, that doesnt give me issues though when I play on my LAN rig.

your speaker config 2 speakers? im really confused... maybe ur onboard sound is better then mines by alot or something. my mobo is nf2. im confused if its not the sound... then is it my vcard?

Do you only play in one server? Have you tried creating your own with some bots and see what happens?

When you get the console down type "cl_showfps 1" and watch your FPS and see how it reacts. Also, I assume your mobo supports dual channel and you are using it?

Well, my LAN rig is better than yours. Its a A64 2800+, which gives me a pretty decent boost over you in the gaming department. But I still am confused, your card should handle high textures easily, even my old 9700 Pro did with ease, and now the 6800nu unlocked in the LAN rig handles it effortlesly.

i have never created my own server with bots. im sure i can find a server with just bots and do that. i think my mobo supports dual channel. im not even sure myself. all i kno is i got a nf2 mobo and 2 sticks of 512 ddr ram. do i have to turn dual channel on? i honestly dont think its my vcard becuz it works fine with other games...perhaps i will wait till the problem occurs once more and see what my console says. maybe it will give some insight to this problem. also is there any games i can try out that is as intense as cs:s and perhaps someone can tell me there settings(someone with a 6800NU) and i can check to see if my comp can do the same and if not... maybe we can see if my 6800NU is messed up... any demos or anythin would be helpful...

Your POST screen will say "DDR Dual Channel Enabled" if it is. There's no option for it, you simply enable it by plugging two (identical) sticks of RAM into the two channels. On your mainboard you will see 3 DIMM slots. Two are close together, that's the first channel, the third one will be spaced a bit further from the first two, that's the second channel. You'll want one stick in each of the channels rather than both sticks in the slots that are closer together.

CPU-Z will also tell you if you're running in dual channel if your POST screen goes by too fast (or you can hit the pause key on the keyboard.. it still works ;)).

Have you downloaded the latest motherboard drivers? This seems like the most logical explination to me if your having problems with one game freezing up.

fortron blue storm. im pretty sure that i have downloaded the latest motherboard drivers... but i could be wrong... can u link me to it?
