Is this most likely a memory problem?

Right now I have a PQI 512mb stick that i bought off ebay about 8 months ago and i think its been really acting up. First, steam kept giving me this error that it couldnt read from a memory location due to access violations. Then the hp apps starting erroring out similarly (memory access errors). Also, my compute has been running kind of slow, especially when I try and open applications. When I open firefox it can take almost a minute to open. Does this sound like memory? Thanks.

Sure does. Go to www.ultimatebootcd.com and burn it to a cd and boot from it. Start by running Memtest86+ and go from there.

alright, i ran memtest86+ for 3 hours and no errors came up

just now though "Win32 Service Host" or something like that crashed and outlook isnt responding anymore, could i just need to reformat?

I get really strange problems similar to yours (pop-up errrs from windows about referencing mmry address .........). i also get my computer just blackscreening and restarting then reporting device driver errors (sometimes). this has been going on for year(s)....i have replaced most everything besides a PCI IDE card, and a network card (i mean EVERYTHING, mobo, proc, vid card, hard drives, but not mmry.) i've run a few mmry check programs but all is good according to them. the only reason i'm not getting rid of my mmry is cause i'm poor and i love having a gig (when it works). in other words, if anyone has some spare cash and wants to buy me a gig of new ram, i'll accept.I

alright, its sounding more and more like memory, things slowly crash and i end up rebooting, im going to stick some ram in from a friends computer and see if thats the real problem
