Alright, well im in a dilema on what to do, I'm getting a mac pro and im not sure on what monitor to get, I'm in love with the apple display's, but they are pricey considering I could get the same size monitors for cheaper, but is there somthing that makes the apple display stand out and make it worth the extra $ and is it the best match for the mac pro, or is there somthing out there better that is of equal or lesser price of a 30"?
 
I'm pretty sure all three 30" LCDs (Apple, Dell, HP) use the same basic panel. Supposedly, Apple's has better (ie, more even) backlight than the others, but whether it's worth the MUCH higher price is anyone's guess. I'd say get the Dell or HP.
 
I bought a 20" cinema display once...

I LOVE it, but when I could have purchased 2 24" dell screens for the same price? Well...

I've got a dell 20" at work and 2 19" acers at home (for my PC, along with the 20" for my mac also at home)

The Cinema display is BEAUTIFUL, but not worth the extra cash... IMO.
 
Dell's 3007 WFP is a much better deal than the 30" cinema display. You'll get the same performance at a lower price.

And the Dell will have three times the warranty - unless you pony up extra cash for AppleCare on the MacPro.
 
actually most reviews rate the dell 30" performance higher than the apple, but hey if the monitor has got to match the mac, go for it. Personally I'd just go with the dell or HP.
 
ah, thanks for all the quick help, I was wondering how the dell was because that was my other choice in monitor, and i've always heard great stuff about the dell, so thanks for the re-assurance

I have only bad experiences with Dell, but they make first-rate displays.

Check out the HP, though, and buy whichever's cheaper.

I don't know about buying one of their PCs, but I've heard a lot of good things about their displays. And so far, I really like my Dell 3110cn color laser printer.
 
dell displays are more problem prone out of the box than the apple displays (blame it on selling more monitors or lesser quality control, who knows), that said they do use the same display panel. If you have a costco membership, go there and buy the dell and color calibrate when you get home. If you have any problems at all, costco will take it back and give another.
 
alright, got another question, will there be any more video cards coming out that will be compatible for the mac pro, instead of being stuck with the x1900 or the quad slie 7300 gt's ?
 
That's not quad SLI, that's just quad. It's for having a massive amount of displays, not for having a massive amount of frames per second. Go with the X1900XT.
