This may have been answered already but I couldn't find an answer under the search.

How can I access the IPMI interface via ethernet? Can't find any documentation on this.

It usally has it's own IP address.
Hit the router and try the various IP's that are showing up.

One of them will give you a web page.
The login will be ADMIN/ADMIN btw.

Thanks for reply. I am using the supermicro board as a pfSense box. How does it work if I am using one interface as the WAN interface (DHCP) and one interface for the LAN (static address). Do I need an additional NIC to access the IPMI?

what board do you have exactly (atom serverboard for pfsense) because I believe I am having the same problem. I can't access webmin and IPMI on the same LAN even though it is said to be built in the board. (I am using it with Ubuntu Server)
Here is my board

I have a similar board with IPMI built in.

I am using both of the NIC interfaces for external and internal traffic. I'm not sure if I need to run the CD to configure the IPMI. I'll have time to mess around with it after work tomorrow. I'll have to do some research and post what I find out.

I tried the CD but I couldn't get IPMI to work. It didn't even seem to be on the CD if I remember correctly.

No need for CD. I checked the gateway and found the gateway had two IP addresses for my pfSense box. One address was internet routable and one address was a 172.x.x.x address. I put the 172 address into my browser and the login page popped up! :D

By the way, how do you secure IPMI? My pfSense box has two NICS, one LAN and one WAN. The IP address for IPMI is on the same interface as the external (WAN) address on my pfSense box. This worries me a little bit. Of course the WAN address is a internet routable address and the IPMI is an internal 172.x.x.x address but still, they are on the same interface.
