Internet Explorer all Italics, help

I put this here cause it has to deal with Windows XP and not sure where to put it.

A friend of mine is having this problem

Internet Explorer and Mozilla are all coming up as italics for the text. It's not internet explorer as mozzilla is doing this and so firefox would probably do it too.

We have tried replacing certain fonts, tried changing the encoding, looked at the registry settings of the fonts, and nothing has worked to reset it back to normal.

Does anyone know how to fix it?
 
Look under Tools > Internet Options > General Tab > Fonts button. What does it say in there?

On EDIT: Also try this, open wordpad and start typing something in the Arial font. See if you can select something other than italics. If it is happening in both IE and Firefox, then the actual font itself might be fubar and need reinstalling.
 
I see you came across the same google results that i did.. we have tried both and neither worked.
