im running cacti on ubuntu server. can anyone tell me how to install threshold into it? for the email notifaction is main reason i need it.

Looks like you have to use the THold plugin but I can't find to much documentation for it. I have always used Nagios for notifications and then cacti for graphing.

yeah i would use nagios but im having monster problem with snmp on windows machines that no one can seem to answer and i cant find the resolution. i can not get NSCLient++ installed on any windows 2003 server machine and get it to work correctly. but no one seems to be able to tell me why it wont work

I just enable the build in SNMP service on Windows an call it a day. I then configure the SNMP settings via GPO.

thats what i dont understand. i enabled the snmp in the windows machines and nagios come back with connection socket time out error everytime

You have to set a community name and access level on the Windows server. You also probably want to filter the IPs that are allowed to query.
