Installing Desktop Drivers on Laptops?

Is it possible to install video card drivers meant for desktops on a laptop? I have an nVidia 8600M GS card in my laptop. Is it possible to install regular drivers for it even though it isn't on the list of video cards supported by the driver?
 
It is absolutley possible. There is one little catch, you need a modified INF file to go with it.

This site is jesus for laptop video drivers. They include like every driver revision, and include modified INF's to go with each one, and they're FAST.

They already have the INF for the BioShock driver which was released yesterday. I can tell you from experience, going from mid-July drivers to these BioShock drivers changed my situation around completely with BioShock. Without the beta driver, I wasn't able to play at the lowest settings using 1024x768. After I updated, I was running max settings at 1440x900.

Amazing what a GOOD set of drivers can do. Always nice to stay up to date if you play new games!
