Hello, I'm trying to make a perfect back up of every single classical music CD's I have, but it's not working so well. I have tried Nero, ISOBuster and Alcohol 120%, and some CD's still keep on having static, pops, or other undesirable things. Anyone have a clue as to why this is or what program I should use? Oh, and I'm going to RMA my Lite-ON combo drive that seems to be malfunctioning.

It shouldn't be that difficult. If Nero failed then the drive may be to blame.

Thanks for the reply. But do consider that it fails with only specific CD's. Perhaps the drive IS to blame. It's getting RMAed soon. Hopefully that'll solve the problem.

Some ideas in no order to avoid buffer overrun, worth a shot?

1) Close background programs (CTL+ALT+DEL and end alot of tasks), so data flow isn't interrupted during recording
2) Turn off screen saver (screen saver tab, click none) before recording
3) Turn off any power management options (choose never for hard disk, monitor, etc) before recording

No underrun (or overrun). Let's see. Maybe a shot of canned air in the drive would help, who knows. You wrote to consider only specific CDs fail. I doubt you mean specific brands/speeds, right? You just mean that random CDs are working and failing, I think, just checking. Tried slowing the extraction speed?

EAC... I read that it didn't conver music into image files. I kind of want them in image files... any more suggestions?

hmm. weird.

I could have sworn it made images like ISOs. It has an image option, but it only makes wavs and a cue sheet. Sorry about that.

cue? Is that not an image format? It doesn't have to be .iso; just needs to be something that can be read like a CD in a drive.

Personally, I use Blindwrite Suite for all my image making and burning needs.

I backup my wife cds with EAC (to use the copies in the car cd changer), first convert the original disk tracks to mp3, then with use nero create a music cd, it works flawless all the time :D
