ICQ WIM protocol finding clients that work

I'm hitting a wall here, using Pidgin I was able to keep some contacts until they swapped to that protocol.
Trying to find a client which uses the correct protocol was not easy I stumbled upon a Linux one that had a windows binary (icyque) That does not work for me in Pidgin (logs in al right but does nothing else) . Trying to see what else was out there I got to download Miranda NG and that plugin sadly did not work well either (did get me offline messages).

Anyone have some other clients to try , the official client is bared from downloading (**************)

I used to use Trillian for icq but can't anymore since the move.

Well it seems there is a way to get there now.

But there is a problem where it will require some extra steps that will allow you to use it again.
