We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

I thought I was secure...

Obliviously I wasn't.

I just fount out that someone has gotten hold of my details (including bank details).

I run NOD32 (with auto updates on), Spybot search and Destroy and an up to date XP. My router is a Linksys WRT54GS (hyperwrt firmware, wireless turned off). I'm always careful when buying things on the Internet, I avoid ebay/paypal, use complex passwords, avoid unknown downloads and only use major online shops).

I've checked running processes, checked startup processes, done multiple scans with different anti-virus software, but nothing fount.

If nothing was fount on my computer how could they get the details ? What should I do to prevent this from happening? install a firewall as well ?

it doense mean it was you, you know how many laptops are stolen lately with personal information on them? The one with millions of veterans info, the one wiht 200k+ florididians info, the list goes on. and those are the ones we just hear about. the best crackers you'll never here about because they got in, got the info, and got out without anyone knowing.

Yeah same thing happened to me, but only CC info. Just think of all the places you have input that info, I highly doubt every place is patched to high heaven and running very tight security.

if you use your credit card at a retail store, it is possible for that information to be stolen... rather easily.

Restaurants too, and not just at McDonald's. Mine was stolen by some jerk at a real fancy place. In this day and age cash is becoming the only safe option. Ironic how this is working out.
