Not sure if this is in the right forum or not. But does anybody remember that free program that you install on a computer and it spits out a report telling you what software and hardware that particular computer has?
 
You could always use Windows' System Information tool (Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Information)
 
I used to use a program called Track-it. Unfortunately Intuit bought out Blue Ocean the original maker of the product. I haven't upgraded since Intuit took over the product. I personally dislike Intuit due to their licensing practices, product support and last year installing DRM into some of their products.
 
I'll third Belarc, good stuff there. But there is a more important question, since the thread is labeled IT management...

How many PCs?
 
Belarc outputs some nice reports. However, for a whole office I chose EZ-Audit.

It works very well. Free demo for up to 5 computers.
