i need some quick help

i have a P4 1.4 w 512MB ram .. old i know. would i be able to OC it to 1.5 without buying any new parts? would i just be able to change voltage and stuff? sorry i am a noob

Depends...you need a mobo that supports overclocking. If you have one that does, then you'll also want to be sure that you have a decent sized heat sink and fan. If all those conditions are met, then probably yes.

how do i find out about my mobo .. is there a list somewhere? i have an intel. or do i just need to check settings in the bios ?

you probobly cant overclock with this board. i dont think this board supports any other FSB other than 100mhz

so when you oc your processor, you have to change the FSB as well ?

yes, thats is how you overclock intel cpu's. there is no other way.

It's hard to pick up on all the knowledge that you need to build a pc overnight. I know, because I basically tried to do exactly that about a year ago. A good place to start is to read in the Overclocking section of the forums and read people's sigs to see what cpu, mobo, etc they have. I know that seems kind of cheesy, but at least its a way to start. That way you'll know what some people have done, and you can research the parts and stuff separately. Be sure to look up terms you don't know on some nerd-terminology site too...it will help you out in the long run.

i did this about 5 months ago when i upgraded from my old bx system to the system in my sig. i had alot of fun relearning how to overclock on modern p4 boards really brought back alot of the excitment i had when i first started overclocking.
