I have an HP desktop that decided to have issues. When you turn it on the HP logo screen looked all scrambled and after a couple of seconds it turned off. This would happen every time you turned it on. I pulled one of the sticks of memory just to see if that was an issue and suddenly the screen was no longer scrambled. However it still turns off after a couple seconds. Any ideas?
 
Sounds like a video card or integrated video issue. Some times the heatsink on the video chip gets dislodged and it overheats. Check the heatsinks on the video chip/northbridge (if integrated) Post the video card specs or model number.
