Heres My System Specs:
AMD Athlon 64- bit 2.0 GHZ
512 MB DDR RAM
120 Wester Digital 7,200 RPM
ASUS K8V-X Motherboard
nVidia Pandex ge-Force fx5500 256 MB Graphics Card.
Windows XP Professional

Will i be able to run HL2 on 1024x786 on high settings?? or atleast medium settings?

The video card might struggle a bit. But the rest of the system should be enough to run it.

might also be slighlty slow on loading levels with the 512 mb ram but you are fine.

yes. the integrated graphics on my pc can run it at 1024 by 768 high, and thats only a geforce 4 mx chip.

I would not know. I run it @ 1280x720(or something like that) w/everything cranked ALL the way up.

Specs:
AMD XP-M 2500(@2.6Ghz)
A-bit NF7-S v2.0
ATi X-800XT
Corsair 2x1gig sticks of XMS3500(@440Mhz)
Audigy Gamer
Sony CD/RW
TTGI 600w PSU
SLK-900a w/92mm 70cfm fan
Sony 24in flatscreen CRT

yes your system should be able to run it on high at 1024x768 when forcing directx 7....

the 5500 is only 20mhz on the core faster than the 5200... and my lil bro has a 5200 128bit card that ran HL2 on 1024x768 on high and it totally killed the card.. u have a faster proc.. but this game is gpu limited for ur setup so yeah.. just use 800x600 on high with 2xaa and 4xaf and enjoy the game...

well. what does 800x600 look like.can some1 take ss with everything on high and STUFF on 800x600.

So yuor not going to buy the game if you cant run it at an uber 1337 1024x768 on high?
Theres more to games and graphics!

i got it. but my pcs in for repair. and when i installed it it freezes at loading screen. i just wanan see what it looks like

Is this what you are wanting?

I found that even with everything turned up to max....when using 8x6 you get a fade effect on distant objects....you do on 10x7 as well, but not even near what I was seeing on 8x6.

Throw another chunk of RAM in and up your videocard if you can....then you should be good to go at 10x7 with all the eye candy.

Pics taken with a 9800pro.
