I've just spent the last two days wiring my house with cat5e and now I'm not sure how to get everything connected together. This is how it is setup right now:
25/25 fiber connection being fed into the basement, from there I ran cat5e to every room in the house. The problem I have is that some bedrooms and the entertainment room require multiple devices to be connected. ie the entertainment room has a PS3, xbox360, apple tv, and a htpc. Then one room has a ps3 and a desktop and so on.
Wireless isn't a option, even with wireless n the best signal I could get was 30%, which was what led me to wire the house in the first place. I've been doing some research and I'm not to sure how to go about it. I currently have a netgear wndr3700 and a dlink Dir-655. From what I've been reading would I be able to just buy a switch, plug that up in the basement. Then place a router thats connected to the switch in the rooms that need multiple connections into those routers?
Thanks!
