So I swapped out my 3500+ for an FX53. I've been trying to push it to 2.6 but I just can't get it there. I have a Tt Big Typhoon with AS 3 and my system is in my sig. I tried just uping the multi to 13 (gets me to 2.61) but prime 95 failed after about 15 minutes. I get the same result if I up the FSB to 2.6. At 2.55, the speed that is stable right now, the FX idles around 30-32C and at load is in the mid 40s. I also tried raising the voltage to 1.6. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions about getting it up to 2.6.

That should of done it would think. Im running my FX-51 @ 2.4Ghz just by uping the milti. I raised the voltage and had mine running at 2.6Ghz ran PI and 3DMark without crashing but couldnt get Prime to run so I just dropped it down and never messed with it again. It is possible especially on a 53 since my 51 did it.

Try running it at lower voltage like 1.4-1.5, if it still fails I don't think it will hit 2.6Ghz unless you get better cooling.

Yeah, when I raised the multi to 13 I figured that I would just lower the FSB from 200 to like 195 or so (to be at 2.6 instead of 2.61), but my evga board doesn't allow underclocking past 200. When I get home from work I'll try lowering the volt, but if that doesn't work then I guess I'm SOL unless I go to water or somthing.

So I upped the voltage to 1.66 and changed the multi to 13x. Ran 3dmarks 06 and so far, everything seems to be fine. Everest says my cpu temp 31C, I have still yet to try prime95.

edit: Ran prime95 and it failed after about 15 min. So close! I can run everything but prime95.
