Edit:
Thanks all, I've made up my mind. I'm going with the XBox, mainly because of the controller--the PS3 controller felt very uncomfortable to me. But I made the mistake of showing my wife "Little Big Planet", so I may have to get a PS3 too. How horrible for me.
I haven't owned a console since the atari 2600 days, but my wife came home with a Wii recently. We have fun playing some of the Wii games, but I like FPS games (the more mindless and gory the better) and so was thinking about a PS3 or XBox360. I would like a console with good FPS games, good racing games, and some games the wife and I could play together (she likes things like Zelda and puzzle games). Is one console better than the other or is it a wash?
Also, the Xbox seems to be about $100 cheaper, but doesn't come with wireless. Is online play/downloads a must-have for these? I can't run a cable to the living room so would have to buy the wireless setup for the xbox360, negating the price difference.
Blu-ray isn't really that interesting to me; I'm still pretty satisfied with standard DVD and my projector isn't full HD anyway. But I've never seen Blu-ray, so maybe its the shit and I just don't know it.
I'd appreciate your opinions, and please let me know if there are other factors I haven't thought about. Thanks.
