I see everyone using HD Tune to benchmark their HDs and different volumes on those HDs, but for me it only sees the two physical drives. Is this a limitation of the free trial version?

I really want to benchmark my OS partition and my games software raid 0 volume but cant do it in HD Tune... Any other programs because I really dont care that much about it to pay money.

If you are plugged into a RAID controller, HD Tune will see each separate array as a volume. It cannot test an individual partition on a normal hard drive or a Raid array.

To short stroke a RAID array, you need an Intel Matrix controlled mobo. You would have to build a separate array for your boot volume. Then HD Tune would see it as a separate drive and be able to test it.

Try HD Tach, or Atto. I don't use them, but they may be able to test a partition.

Atto worked perfectly for my needs Don, My software raid is definately faster, but is held back alot by my slower HD
