I'm partially inebriated with (or because of..?) my in-laws over this Thanksgiving. 'Murica
Happy Turkey Day everyone.![]()
Happy thanksgiving, enjoy your fat inducing meals.![]()
Cooking dinner myself... ALL OF IT, and just realizing how fucking small my oven is. Roasting pan with a 14 pound bird has to go on the 2nd lowest shelf, which leaves a tiny sliver of a shelf to cook carrots, potatoes, any anything else... needless to say heat isn't circulating too well there.
You don't know that half of it. It was just fine back when I was a bachelor and didn't do much of oven cooking, but now? Unfortunately it's a bigger problem than just "buy a new one", like kitchen remodel big.Sounds like someone needs to upgrade his rig!
No family this year, except my own immediate ones!
I'm going to go fry a turkey using my bulldozer and fermi
Ok so the aftermath of Thanksgiving (not that I expect people to read/contribute to this thread anymore).Sounds like someone needs to upgrade his rig!

Oven was definitely too small, the top part of the turkey cooked way faster than the bottom, and it was on a rack too so it's not like there wasn't air circulation under. Net result dry as fuck breast meat, and questionably done thigh mean. Yeah I failed big time on the cooking.
My parents who came over hardly ate anything, so there's a metric crap ton of leftovers
My wife who argued me into buying a 14 pound bird instead of the 9 pound bird I wanted because "it looks too small, it's almost the size of a chicken" yeah, that was pretty horrible too, as that could have helped the previous problems a ton. Oh well I have a year to "upgrade my rig"However the big problem I found out (already did some looking) is I have gas hookup, and that severely limits my choices it seems as most systems are electric unless you get into the commercial-like size of things.
