This is my second most-anticipated game. It's right behind Silksong for me and at this point I won't be surprised if Hades 2 comes out first.

I tried the first one couldn't get Into it I know the guy who created Super Giant worked at Game Informer or Game Spot .

V Rising is out in two days ")

Game is super good already

Just played for like 3 hours

I've put 2.5 hours into it so far. It's pretty good but it's not gripping my like Hades 1 did. Might be because I've played so many rogue-lites since then or maybe it's because I've been playing Tiny Rogues recently and it has all of the rogue-lite aspects that I love (diverse builds, lots of choices, lots of unlocks, quick games) without all of the bullshit that slows a game down (dialog, resource farming, etc.). I don't like the art design as well as H1 either; the art for the gods in particular isn't very good IMO.

At least for the art, a lot of it is not finished or placeholder art. So that is why it doesnt look as good as the first one.

The placeholder art during the Hades 1 EA was still better than it is here, IMO.

I don't think I've seen _that_ much in Hades 2.

Charon and a couple others have the placeholder generic "cloaked figure" portrait. And Artemis is kinda shit.

A lot more isnt done art wise though, there are a lot of backgrounds while you are talking to npcs and gods are still rough sketches. Most of the gods and npcs are in stages of being done, but until they have that reflective effect mel has they arent quite done.

Anyone playing 1.0? Not sure if I like this one as much. The gameplay seems better, but the story seems non-existent so far. I liked Zagreus more i think, but maybe i need to give it more time. Im only an hour in. Art and gameplay are fantastic.

That's pretty much how I felt during EA. I put 200+ hours into the first one and got all of the achievements; I think I had about 6 hours in this one before I just got bored and quit.

Dropped and refunded after fighting Headmistress for the 3rd time. I don't understand the appeal of roguelikes.

I played the early access versions a few times. Couldn't really get into it like I did the first Hades. I guess I need to try 1.0 and see if it's gotten any better.

Thanks for helping me decide not to get it anytime soon. I loved Hades as well and dumped many hours into it but I also recall that I was happy once I finished it. I don't think I'm interested enough to jump into Hades II when I have hundreds of other games to play.

I made it through the second boss and died on the third on around my 5th attempt. It's definitely really good if you want more of that gameplay cycle from Hades 1. It's a very, very similar game with some cool new twists and different weapons.

I'm really enjoying it, but it seems like some of the upgrade rolls are a little less forgiving. My guess is those rolls will get better as you build out your passives if you decide to keep rerolls in the cards system.

I'm not liking it at all, it's just not fun. I don't want to use all the dumb magic crap, i want to beat enemies to death, with my fists if need be. Hopefully it gets better and there's stronger builds i've yet to unlock. About to drop it for FF Tactics.

Unlocked the weapon upgrades finally, eh. They dont look fun at all.

Are you like me and really want to like this game because of how much fun the first one was, but find yourself getting bored fast? That's what's happening with me.

Yea i finally got a build doing 800 damage per hit but it was super slow

I have to say, I didn't think it was better than the original until I went back and played the original. This game is just far more polished, mechanically deep, and just generally more interesting gameplay wise. Also, once you get some depth into the upgrade system it really starts to pick up steam. I just had a MAJOR unlock that basically changed the way the entire game feels and gave me a massive boost in power. Try not to ignore any of the systems in the game, I know can be mildly annoying but they're not really that intrusive. They're also fairly simple and intuitive. I do like Zagreus more as a character, and conceptually I find the original more interesting, but other than that it's not close.

It is starting to get more fun, Chronos absolutely cucked me however, but finally getting builds that do something.

Man it sure starts off slow.

I've been getting in to Hades 2 a bit more. I've beaten Chronos a couple times, unlocked all of the base weapons, as well as a bunch of other things. It's decent but I still don't think it's as much fun as Hades 1. For instance, I don't find any of the weapons to be as much fun as any of the H1 weapons, the boons are more balanced but less impacting (Poseidon's knock back effects suck compared to H1 for example), and none of the NPCs are as interesting/enjoyable to meet as Sisyphus, Patroclus, or Thesus and the Minotaur.

To me Hades 1 was a 10/10 game. Hades 2 is probably a high 7 or low 8 so far.

Rolled credits last night

I enjoyed it. Hades 1 had better vibes, characters, and story, but Hades 2 has more mechanical depth and a LOT more content. Seriously, the surface feels like you get a whole second game to play, and it's difficult. The story and characters didn't capture me nearly as strongly as Hades 1 did.

I'd give them the same rating. I still would recommend new people start with Hades 1, and then jump to Hades 2 if you crave more of the gameplay but not necessarily the story (I guess this sounds like no duh why wouldn't you start with the first game).

I also wasn't really a fan of the weapons. I did enjoy the wands, those are super chill to play on controller with due to autoaim, and the only other weapon I really liked was the axe. The axe is so chunky I love just one shotting a huge chunk of enemies. The Mel aspect lets you stack up a ton of HP and damage, you can just face tank everything, its how I got my first surface complete with over 600 HP.

I like that the oath of the unseen is more about making enemies harder and adding new mechanics than it is about destroying your build choices and making the game RNG hell.

My main issue with Hades 2 is I feel like certain systems are introduced pretty late where I've basically already finished the game and am not interested in playing more. The familiars are an example, didn't get the ability to upgrade them until I was near the end of the game, and at that point I was just playing to see the ending, not because I was craving more of the gameplay. Haven't even unlocked the other boss fights either, and I literally rolled credits already -.-

Hades 1: 9/10 +OG +basically spawned a genre of Hades-like (RIP WOL2 for chasing that trend) -epilogue frustrated me so much I wanna knock it to 8/10, RNG hell to finish it
Hades 2: 9/10 +much more gameplay +more depth to the systems -story/characters are mid compared to Hades 1

Finally back to back beat chronos, this game is starting to feel better. I think coming from so many hours in Hades maybe jaded me. I was so locked on in that game i could add a bunch of pacts and still beat it untouched. I'm starting to get there with II, and it's not bad. Objectively it might be as good as the original. I think that was the first roguelike i played, so i probably hold it in a higher regard just because of that.

Great game, working on prometheus next. Sad though Supergiant making a sequel, i feel like their creativity is gone :(

They make a 3rd one, ill be VERY concerned. They had a clear plan with this one and its some of the most fun I've had gaming in a while.

Oh man I wish you luck in the RNG grind to unlock the pacts in Hades II. This was my biggest issue with Hades I but it only affected the epilogue for me - getting the right dialogue to trigger was just pure RNG and I gave up and just watched it on youtube.

It took me nearly 100 runs in Hades 2 until I finally encountered the mini-boss I needed to trigger the dialogue to unlock the buffed boss fights (vow of rivals) for the game. There is a reddit post of someone else with 60 hours of playtime without encountering the mini-boss yet. I'm still salty over it haha. Game burned me out before I even got to see all the content for no good reason, I was already running high fear runs and completed all the testaments of night for the weapons I liked before it even gave me the fun vows.

I dumpster Chronos on every run now. I need to use a Death Defiance or two on Prometheus because of that memory game flame attack that he does but I have managed to beat him. I still don't like the weapons as well as H1; the shield/bow/gloves were more fun IMO, and the Hammer upgrades felt more impactful and gave some interesting options which seem lacking in H2. I dislike that there are only 4 or 5 boring ultimates in comparison to one for every God in H1. I liked the Mirror more than the Card system. I'm torn on the seed farming; it adds a reason to do runs but it also gets old hoping that the seed you need drops and then waiting a few runs for them to be ready to harvest. I'm kind of interested in Echo's story (less so when I found out Narcissus is involved) but I skip most of the dialog for pretty much everyone else whereas I looked forward to and listened to all of the dialog in H1. Would have been neat if they had included some of the old map characters like Sisyphus and Patroclus, could have even had a story arc where Chronos released or recruited some of those characters in exchange for denouncing the Gods.

Overall I am enjoying it but it's not roping me in to where it's all I played like H1 did.

I just finished the game as well, I'm hoping there's an additional secret ending, but I got the big ending that I think is likely it. The whole ending was oddly wholesome and not what I expected at all. But it did fit Zagreus' character to do what he did at the end. I really loved the game, but the story was basically a skip. In terms of a combat system and mechanics, I think it's as good as it gets, but the story for the original was better. It still tells me to go meet Chronos above and below, so I'll do that but I'm assuming the game is mostly over at this point.
