Currently I have a Netgear DG834G v1 and I'm using a WG111 USB adapter on my home PC. I have a few issues with lag spikes when i ping my router from my home PC, say every 20secs or so it'll jump from happily pinging 1 or 2ms, to 3000+ms. It'll do this for just one ping and I dont know why, I've tried updating firmware on the router, updating the drivers, taking off MAC access control etc. and although it has improved the regular ping rate from 20ms+ to 1 or 2ms, it's not stopped the lag spikes, making it impossible to play my beloved games!

I have plans to format my PC and start from scratch, but seeing as my router is fairly old now, I was thinking of upgrading. The router I was looking at is the Netgear DG834PN, which does come with a free WPN111, does anyone have any experience of this router or adapter? I was tempted to invest in a PCI wireless card instead to see if that made any difference, does any have experience of these being any better?

BTW, I used to use a wireless PCMCIA card on my laptop to connect and it worked fine before, plus the USB adapter seems to have issues when I use bit torrent - i.e. PC will reboot sometimes, or freeze when mouse is moved.

Thanks for any help!
