Probably lots of factors coming into play for the rise. Coinbase opening a US-based exchange, Winklevi on the docket as well, Greece election turnout, etc.
 
Woah.. thats wild! Though, diff is still up right? I've been told to not even try to mine w/my two 280X's.. just not enough power.

Too much "power" for too little ....flops. :)
