My Dell Inspiron 700m just arrived and for some reason Dell decided to put all the usb ports on the leftside of the unit which makes using a corded mouse awkward with the wires winding around. Does anyone have good experiences with wireless laptop mice? I've seen them before but haven't had the chance to use any. I was thinking something along the lines of this but if the wireless solutions aren't worth the hassle then I guess I'll just stick with my mx300.

heh those two units aren't exactly portable tho ;) the charger is huge and there'll be even more wire clutter than if I were to use a normal optical mouse.

ohhhh, my mistake, didn't read your post in its entirety. sorry bout that :) hrrrm sounds like a good plan albeit an expensive one, guess I'll save up some money in the meantime then!

I use this Kensington mouse I use 2 rechargable AAA batteries in it. The batteries last for weeks under heavy use (gaming) before I need to swap them out. The receiver stores inside the mouse body when not in use and the mouse has a very good 'feel' to it. I've been very happy with it.

Big thumbs up. I have the same mouse and love it. I don't game on my laptop (only a Geforce 4MX 420 Go) but I use it for word processing, VB programming and Linux development/ experimentation. I've had to replace the batteries twice in the 8 months I've owned it.

I currently have the Targus mouse linked in the first posting of this thread. I hate it. It's occasionally unresponsive and it doesn't seem to track well. I've come to this revolation too late to return it to Best Buy where I bought it. I want to get a new one, but I want to make sure I don't get stuck in the same boat I'm in now. This Kensington mouse sounds promising. Does it track really well and is it responsive all of the time? Do you ever have to adjust the receiver so it responds better? Does it feel cheap and poorly made in your hands like the Targus mouse? Please let me know. If you guys back it up, I'll go ahead and get one.

Try out the Logitech Wireless Mouse. They have the Notebook version which looks compact and is comfortable.
