Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
As a general rule, Apple tends to update model lines around 6 months after the last update. It may be more if there's a technical reason to delay the update (waiting for certain chips, etc.).
The PowerBook line was updated in September last year, and the iBook line in November. That means that the earliest update could be in March, to the PowerBooks.
I'd say go with either the iBook or the IBM X31 (or 40 if you wait) series.
The powerbooks aren't that sturdy, and aren't much better than the iBooks, so you could save some money there over the powerbook. The IBM is real well built and not too flashy (which I like).
The only thing that the Powerbook has over the iBook is just double the L2, can max ram over 1gb, and a nicer paint job.
Other than that, the 12" iBook is the best way to go.
It is cheaper
It has longer battery life
It uses the same screen as the Powerbook 12"
It still looks cool
O, did I mention that it is cheaper, hehe
