God of War Laufey (PS5)

It's getting laughable with almost all the Sony published games getting female protagonists now.

Why would they do this instead of Kratos' son, Loki, after they parted ways at the end of Ragnarok? Who would prefer playing as her instead after seeing his story and upbringing in the previous two games?

I'll still consider playing it, because I really don't mind female protagonists where it doesn't feel like a forced decision. But that's hard to envision that not being the case in a series that has had the same male protagonist in all previous games and she's also seemingly somehow on Kratos' level of combat abilities in that trailer. But maybe their trolling us and Kratos will be playable in it at some point as well. But I doubt that with her name on the title.
 
Female protagonist is not a issue when done right. Which from what I seen so it is. They didn't make Faye a Mary Sue or a girl boss. Thye also didn't make her ugly af with a bald head. Game looks food to me.

I prefer female protagonists when they look beautiful. But just because we had 10 years of ugly, doesn't mean plain and mid now passes as beautiful. She doesn't even look athletic, doesn't even have that going for her.

She looks her part. Frye is a frist giant warrior. She looks the part not some tiny frail looking female protagonist.

Sorry, beautiful to you means tiny and frail? What? I don't get it. How can you construe it like that when my complaint included that she doesn't look athletic? Kratos looked the part. She does not, sorry.
 
Big boat of NOPE for me. Definitely not interested in the ongoing trend from Sony to have zero masculine men or stunningly beautiful women as MCs in this miserable modern era. Even side characters & NPCs look horrible is most of their games.
 
I saw the rumors earlier (that were claiming the new game would focus on Faye) so wasn't too surprised, and the implications of this new 'realm' where the Gods go after they die is interesting. Afterall, Kratos sent a whole pantheon of them there.

It's gonna be some drama when Faye eventually reunites with Kratos, just to find out he has been shlupping with Odin's Ex. Drama!

More likely we'll be saving Kratos or being the reason he's successful in the Ragnarok adventure (behind the scenes manipulations, etc).

The only actress Sony's technology can seem to accurately capture is Debra Wilson.
 
The sad thing after watching the footage was knowing that some gamers would immediately soil their pants because the lead wasn't a white straight man (or at least, a woman they want to jerk off to).

Folks, please grow up. A good game is a good game no matter who you play; women in games don't have to be the digital equivalent of a Playboy centerfold. And so far, GOW: Laufey looks promising. Besides, people have complained that Sony is veering too far into live service games; are you really going to gripe that Sony's marquee announcement is a story-driven single-player title?

Dunno why they need to uglify her. Why is it so difficult to make her look like the actress and not a methed out version of her?

Also, anyone thinking she can't fight must not have played the God of War games or something. She's a full frost giant from Jötunheim. She was a Guardian of the Jötnar that fought against Aesir gods like Thor. Kratos told Atreus he fought her once and it was a draw. She's fought Thor to a standstill. She can f stuff up. She also has powerful magical abilities and the gift of prophecy. There's a reason Kratos liked her lol. "Girl boss" is irrelevant. We're talking about literal gods and god-tier characters here. She IS a girl boss, just not in the annoying way that term is normally used.

There's a wide range to those categories on their own with the mocap & face/body models. I just don't care for the current degraded cardboard cutout versions of the models they pay for their likenesses to utilize.

We still don't need main characters in those categories to have a good game. And frankly, it's nice to have a lead character that acknowledges women have families and continue to exist after age 30.

She does look like the actress. I recognized Faye as her instantly. Faye is not some damsel in distress she a bloody frost Giant warrior.
 
Sucks for REAL fans of God of War and Kratos. Just don't buy it if you don't like it.. It's really that simple.. Hopefully the low sales don't destroy the franchise.
