getting around isp proxy?

is there a way to getting around an isp set proxy?
the proxy is not set through the web browser but rather directly through the isp while browsing.
i tried setting up a proxy that differs from the isp within the browser but no luck, the isp's proxy still kicks in. i just want it to get to sites like entens*** and hamnch*** (i dont want to put the whole site, just in case)

in any case, any ideas on what to do in this situation?

To answer your question though. No, you cannot get around it. Switch to another ISP if it bothers you that much. Rules are in place for a reason.

it's where i live, not where i'm from ;)

but yeh, id switch to another isp, but there's only ONE for the whole country. a new one should be opening within the next 2 years. the only internet that is not censored is internet that is used by businesses and major companies. i'm not sure about high speed access here though, since its so expensive i didnt get it *yet*

im also checking out SBP now, thanks.
 
Find a web based proxy with SSL support. In this case, google is your friend, as the lists change daily.
 
UAE is also a spam haven because the one ISP (government owned? very spam friendly or ignorant) will not secure their network and/or filter the spam. They filter all the immoral inbound crap but can't filter all the GDMF outbound Viagra and Cialis and porn spams!

People I've dealt with in the UAE have basically reiterated what was posted initially. The entire country appears to be one big DHCP range and very few own a block or have proper DNS or reverse information. Another nightmare brought to you by censorship and despotic rule.

We could not even get our VPN to work due to, I suspect but could not prove, the filtering they were doing. Perhaps even a proxy work-around like proxify.com or anonymizer.com wouldn't work either as they are probably filtering those as well.

Can you tell I hate spam and censorship? Virtue Police are a bunch of porn hounds!
