I'm thinking of an iMac 27" with the 6970M...

This is to replace my current rig in my signature. What i'm wanting to know is if I should buy it now? Or should I wait for a new iMac to be released?

The big pros on why I want an iMac is because, it's an All In One. Somewhat more portable compared to the rig i've built. Also the screen size, thunderbolt, and apple products (iMac, MacBooks) do hold there prices pretty good so if I ever decide to upgrade, the price won't be much of a difference than buying it brand new.

Please let me know and give me your thoughts. I've thought through about it a couple times too but maybe someone can give me my final answer.

Also, how would an 6970M compare to my GTX 460 1GB?

The 6970M is comparable to the GTX460. Expect to have essentially the same performance. You can find other sites that talk about this. So if you see benches for 460's you can generally see that the iMac will perform at about the same rate.
 
I'm probably gonna wait for the new iMac. See some benches and then see what i'll end up with. If the performance isn't as much better than the 2011 model. I can always choose which one to buy,
 
Definitely wait. It's close enough to a refresh that it would be silly not to.

I went ahead and bit the bullet a few months ago on a 2010 refurbed model because I knew they probably weren't going to add DisplayPort Input back after removing it in the 2011 models.
