That looks okay. You could probably do a lot better if you build it yourself, have you considered it or isn't it really an option. I would go for a core 2 duo build instead of an AM2 processor.

I would build myself if I knew what I was doing.....Im afraid I would set it up and then blow stuff up.Atleast this way I have recourse if it blows up or fries something.I have general knowledge, not sure if I would be able to set it up correctly.Im a little confused ,I thought this was a dual core processor?

@rtazz17

Setting up your own computer is not that hard, it can be intimidating at first, but its a good experience. And the AM2 is a dual core processor (from AMD). The Core 2 Duo is basically just the offering from Intel (which happens to be cooler and faster at this time).

Ok,In searching around I found most people recommended athlon over intel for gaming processors?Would the savings be alot building myself?considering time(2 small kids)and aggrivation?

Anyone who reccomends Amd for a brand new build is lieing to you even the lowest conroe will out pace the amd chip at this time.

You could end up saving quite a bit if you build it yourself. Use a website, such as newegg, and pick out all of the components that are in your build above and see what the price difference is. I've never built a computer before, so when i build one later this year it'll be my first time, too. Reading up on stuff here has helped a lot, though; the prospect is no where near as daunting as i had first imagined.

AMD used to be 'king' of the processor market for gaming before dual core processors were released. I, and i imagine so do most people here, strongly recommend getting an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, the E6400 would probably be a good choice.

If this build is from Cyberpower,I have to tell you they haven't gotten very high marks in reviews for quality and support.AVAdirect has a much better rating in this, and is comparable in their prices.

yes its from cyber,I have read the mixed reviews also and am considering elsewhere or maybe buying and building(maybe). Here is my latest thinking, and its 2grand even... Mega Ultra 6000 SE (NO MONITOR)

Sir you would be well advised to do the build yourself...There is alot of help here on the forums and you can read over some websites on building and assembling your own computer..Its not hard to do..Just take your time , read and ask questions.. Post your questions here and if your mechanically inclined at all you will be fine...
As a system builder myself you can pm me and ill give you my cell number and answer any of these basic questions you may have...After you build 1 or 2 rigs you will ask yourself why was i so hesitant to tackle this project.Honestly if you take your time and read for a few nights you will have a good idea as to how these things go together....pm me if you have any so called noob or so called stupid questions...there are no dumb questions just dumb people who dont want to look dumb asking them...I asked some dumb questions when i first started building computers but asking them once was all i needed to understand what i was asking about..................

The difficult part of building your own is the proper installation of your software.
If you fail to load drivers for your devices, or improperly load drivers the system will not work as it should. For 2,000 u can built a very nice machine. As the others have stated - build it slowly, read directions and have fun. i would recommend the following: zipzoomfly pricing
$383.99 BFG BFGR88640GTSOCE GeForce 8800 GTS OC 640MB GDDR3 PCI-E
$138.99 Asus P5N-E SLI nForce 650i SLI Socket 775 1066MHz DDR2 - 1000 Motherboard Retail
$313.50 Intel® Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe Processor 2.4GHz, 1066FSB, LGA775, 4MB Cache
$158.00 Corsair Twin2X2048-5400C4 is a 2048 MByte matched pair of DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs. If you r going to use vista - need 4 gig ram to have optimal performance levels
the 150 raptor is a good choice.
a 600 to 750 kw power supply
a full tower alum case
any dvd-cd-rw devise
to save some money use : $179.99 8600 ULTRA:64SP,CORE 500,MEM 1400MHZ, 512 MB MEMORY this will be available in about a month
too save again use $221.00 Intel® Core 2 Duo E6400 Conroe Processor 2.13GHz, 1066FSB, LGA775, 2MB Cache
Please trust me on thus- AMD is no longer the top banana for gaming- not even close. Intel core 2 duo is the king of the hill. The Asus board will take any duel core and quad core intel chip for future upgrades.
the g80 series video cards are DX10 and also run DX9 so you have a built in future with those series. Don't go for SLI- every 6 months a single card will out perform the SLI config.
sell the old card and buy a new one.
Then any money left over buy the biggest monitor yu can afford. Gaming is more fun on a Dell 3007($1260.00) than a Dell 20" and that machine will be able to produce 2560X1600 resolutions

hope I have been some help.

I was recently looking at Cyber to build my own. Compared to Newegg, my Cyber build would have cost about $150 more (minus rebates) which isn't that bad considering I wouldn't have to worry about building my own and I'd get a decent warranty. I w

Ultimately I went with Newegg. I wasn't impressed with the reseller reviews for cyberpc. I also got a lot of confidence by downloading the and reading the manuals of the computer components I wanted.

Yes, please build it yourself and save a bit of cash.

I'm getting ready to build a new computer and it most definitely will be Core 2 and will cost under $1000, while being a nice piece of computing ass.

I built the system in my sig for $1500. GIve or take a little. It will blow that cpu away. I'd even offer to put it together for you if you pay'd shipping.

Don't be noob, build your own pc.

I am going to go with the intel duo.Idid alot more research and you guys are right...Im still not sure about building my own though...My wife would shoot me if I spent a ton of money and screwed it all up.I have no dought I can put it together but as far as drivers and jumpers and loading the OS,I dont know.I also think if I have it built I will go with AVADIRECT.They seem very good and it looks like they stand behind their work on all the reviews I read, and the cost isnt bad.I also stated before that I was going to use an sli config with the graphics card and that was going to be 2 nvidia 7950 gt oc cards. But someone in one of their replies stated that the 8800 and only one of them would outperform 2 of the previous mentioned. Is this true?I thought 2 would be better than 1?Someone please explain,I will sell the one I have on ebay and get the 8800 if its going to be better.Which 8800 card would be best?or should I say descent and not cost 1000.And one more thing I have read about 10000 rpm hard drives,is this a good buy or can I stick with the 7200?I guess some people get to hard drives? One for gaming and one for all the other#$%*?And as far as the O.S. goes, should I stick with xp with the free upgrade coupon for now?Ive read vista is still buggy and there are problems gaming with it....Alot of questions here,I hope they arent to stupid but I appreciate all the advise...Oh and how fast of a cpu is good enough?Im leaning toward the 2.13 or the 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo..

With a high end computer you are thinking about at some point your going to have to do a reload of software for 1 reason or another..you say the software is what scares you well you have to learn sometime and you sant run to the computer shop every time you get a lockup or virus and have to reinstall everything...Its really not hard to do and you arent going to blow up your computer with the things you are worring about..The software isnt any harder than putting the hardware together...think about it as your making it harder in your own mind than it is in the real world....

Just a quick tidbit for a first time builder... Get a static discharge line, and it does no good to have that one, if you don't have your PSU installed in the case (turned off mind you, the static has to have a place to go). The first build that I did I forgot that little bit of useful information, and blew out a stick of RAMBUS (P3 EB, I know, I know... ). The second time I wanted to make sure everything was working before I put my mobo in, and powered it up, but forgot to look at what the motherboard was resting on... Woops.. blown circuit on my IC7-G MAXX3.. sigh.. First time with 'egg RMA.. :)

Take your time, and those few seconds for your BIOS to beep will seem like a lifetime :)

Be advised that there are quite a few people having issues with the 8800 in XP & Vista. You make want to hold out for a month or so till drivers mature. If you have a decent PCI-E video card, hold off for a bit longer.

When you say "10,000 RPM" drives, I assume you are talking about the WD Raptor line. If you have the cash, go for it, it's a great series of drives for Gaming, OS, etc, etc, however, there are other HD's out there that will do you fine unless your willing to spend the money to go high-end componets. I like to have a seperate drive for my OS, one for games, and then a larger one for all the rest of my crap. As you mature in this "geekdom", you will find out what works out best for you with the funds you have at hand.

If you go with an C2D 6300, and with a decent mobo / RAM / PSU, you can easily overclock it to 2.8+, and you have saved yourself a decent amount of cash. Make sure you have good contact with your heatsink, and have it properly covered with AS5 (Paste of choice) (a little bit goes a long way).

Take your time, research a bit on this forum and others (Anandtech, guru3d, and a few others) just to get some further edu-mha-kate-shun.

Good luck, have fun, and let us know if you need any help. Feel free to PM me if necessary.

Oh, as far as software goes.. it's only software.. You will learn the power and pain of the "fresh OS install"....... More often it rests on the "pain" side.. but... it comes with the territory. Remember to always back the material you want to keep (CD, DVD, external hard drive (HD))

Your build will not work because that PSU is way too weak. It might blow up if you add another video card (serious).
