I'm really not finding what i want. I want to be sold on a gaming laptop. Mostly what brand name to go with! I was thinking Alienware, then saw voodoo. but voodoo seems to be ridiculas. What are you gaming on and what would you want to game on regarding laptops? Money is no object but 6 grand for a voodoo seems ridiculas to me. But if asked 3 grand is probally tops to spend.

I can't speak about it, as I don't have it. (and it's not the kind of laptop I'd want...I prefer thin & lights and ultraportables)

If it's shipping and not just a pre-order, then yeah. I haven't heard of anyone having a 6800 Go laptop yet.

The Go 6800 was announced/previewed on November 8, 2004. As of today (January 4, 2005), I have not heard of any consumer who has a laptop with a Go 6800 in his/her hands. You can (pre-)order the laptops, laptop samples have been reviewed and several resellers have been advertising the laptops for a while, but no consumers have one yet (in the US, at least... who knows about Asia).

So my statement stands true as of today. That will change in 2-3 weeks, i'm sure.

Don't get me wrong, i'd love to be able to pick up an affordable Dothan/Centrino2/Go 6800 laptop.
 
You can get to checkout on the Hypersonic 6800Go laptop. As I cannot afford the machine I cannot verify if it is indeed ready for shipping but it appears semi-promising. ABS has theirs flagged as out of stock. I also see that IBuyPower has a 6800Go laptop as well. I would wait for one of these if you are looking to spend that kind of cash on a laptop. It would be well worth the wait just for the performance boost over the current AGP mobile cards currently out there. Hope this helps.
 
I have had an 9800 and with Omega drivers (+25% stable overclock) had it performing better than the 6800go. The 6800go is the better card. But Ati is just about to release a 12 pipeline mobile GPU, and well, the 6800 will be back to playing catch up ball again :D

#14 how long before tht card comes out and you specified agp. I was under the impresion that the 6800go was pci? correct me if im wrong. Wouldnt you like to see a pci in your laptop rather than a agp slot going forward?

thus far i have found alienware to be the better bargin with regards to starting prices/

http://notebookforums.com/ has many posts from Sager 9860 owners. These Go 6800 equiped notebooks have been shipping for the past month or two. BTW - Alienware's lappy is a rebranded Sager 9860.

I see that now. Strange that no one here or the other 3 boards i visit have any.

Sager doesn't manufacture laptops. That 17" Go 6800 model both sell is made by Clevo.
 
For what im reading its (seagar) is more expensive? im confused but super happy that i know where alienware laptops come from.

You have to shop around, the Sager 9860s and their variants (Alienware 51-m, Hypersonic GX7, Falcon NW Fragbook, etc.) are all pretty expensive, especially since they are one of the only pci-e notebooks on the market right now.

I have a Sager 9860 laptop. I bought it as a gaming laptop. I purchased it on Dec 16th from discountlaptops.com. I found out later that day that it was backordered, and it didn't ship until the 21st. Sucks 'cause I had a LAN party to go to on the 28th, and that's the same day it arrived at my house. They had a free ground shipping offer from Discountlaptops, and someone attempted to use my credit card number on the 18th, which resulted in me cancelling my credit card, so I didn't even attempt to contact Discountlaptops to try and up the shipping.

Anyway, I've had it in my grubby hands since the 28th. (Well, technically, I didn't take it out the box until the next day.)

HP ZD8000 is a 17" WSXGA+ "laptop" that uses the ATI X600 PCI-Express chip. I don't know how it compares to the 9860 w/6800 Go.

It's pretty good so far. I actually haven't installed any games on it yet, but it runs SETI like a sum**tch. 2H34M per packet, hyper-threaded, so it's like a dual-processer. Runs 18-20 packets a day.

I got the S1 basic config, which comes with the P4 3.4E Prescott processor. I upped the optical drive to the DVD writer, and got 2 60GB Sata hard drives in Raid 0. It came with the Wireless/Bluetooth combo, and webcam.

I have a Nostromo Speedpad, and an optical mouse I want to try with it. I plan to try out H2 on it this weekend.

Hey MYPEARL: PCTorque announced yesterday in their forums that the Sager 7620 with ATi MOBILITY™ RADEON® X800 256MB PCI-C card will be available "soon". There are some nice pics of it. They are also promising a full review and info on pricing and availability soon.
 
Sager is also now selling the 9860 with the ATI X800 PCI-Express, instead of the 6800. I guess they decided the ATI is better.
 
Buy your sager notebooks from PCtorque, they have a high repuation compared to the other resellers.

Maybe you should look at Eurocom.com. These guys can pretty much put together anything you want. They even have a screen resolution that not even Alienware or Sager offers. Also, they'll give you up to 20% discount for turning in your old laptop. When you go check out their site make sure the adjust the prices for the US by choosing the USD option, their business is out of Canada and their prices is set as such by default.

They sell the same thing that other Clevo OEMs sell.If you'll notice, they don't actually HAVE that screen resolution that Sager and Alienware don't offer.. they simply list it before it's available and put a delivery date up of April 2005.

Don't buy HP/Compaq. They're pulling that mini-PCI whitelist crap like IBM does, now. If you don't like the wireless card they ship the thing with tough, it won't boot with anything else. No upgrading, either, when new stuff comes out.
