Galaxy Note as a glorified e-reader?

Just went over to eBay and saw that these are going for around ~$400 now and was wondering if anyone had experience using this as a e-reader?

Currently using a Playbook and EVO 3D as my "media" devices but have been giving a lot of thought about selling these and going with a Galaxy Note as its still big enough, I think, for "tablet" like uses like the Playbook but small enough so that it could be more easily carried around like my EVO 3D.

Only problem I really have with the Note is its screen size in relationship to easily readability over an extended amount of time.

Any thoughts/opinions are wanted, thanks!

Well I know that...its just with the Note it can also be used as a internet tablet, light gaming, movies and music, etc.

Just the e-reader part I'm interested about...as far as text clarity at smaller fonts and use after extended periods.

I am always using my Note to read books. I haven't had any problems with text clarity or readability over a extended period of time. Ever since I got a Note, I am hardly ever on my laptop or tablet anymore.

Thats what I like to hear!

OK then, quick question, hows the speaker on it? My Playbook has AMAZING sound for what it is. Although I don't expect the Note to be anywhere near as nice how are things like music and movies on it?

Like, is it at least loud and clear?

I use my G. Nexus for e-reading every day, and i have no issues with its screen size.

I have one as well and love it. Replaced my need for a dedicated tablet. Works great for Kindle books.

Another vote for the Nexus 7, quad core Tegra for the same price running jellybean straight from Google is a no brainer

more like half the price lol. I am definitely picking one up. I love my galaxy nexus and I am sure this will have a similar dev community.

It has a standard back-lit LCD, so it'll be terrible as an e-book reader. Get something with E-Ink, like the Kindle.

The Note has an AMOLED. It works fine as an ereader in my experience. The larger screen really does make it tolerable as compared to terrible with regular phones (3.7")
