G500 Issues

Hi All,

Just got a G500 to replace a MX Revolution cause I was interested in giving a wired mouse a try as well as one that is geared towards gaming. I have really liked my MX Revolution the only real issues I have had with it is sometimes it isn't responsive enough which I imagine is due to it being wireless.

After using my G500 for a little bit last night I came across two things that I was curious if it is common with this model or if I should pursue an exchange:

1) The weight cartridge doesn't seem to pop out when the button is pushed on the bottom of the mouse. I have tried putting it in a few different ways and it always seems like I have to work really hard to get that thing out of there where as when I look at some videos on youtube other peoples seem spring loaded. This common? Not a huge issue cause I don't intend to change the weights constantly, but just kinda bothers me it isn't working right.

2) The scroll wheel in free spin mode (not sure the real term, when it doesn't click) is giving me a little trouble too. When I scroll on a webpage for example and I stop the wheel it always seems to want to jump up or down a little bit even though I have stopped scrolling. Not sure if this is different from other models, but I never had this issue with the two MX Revolutions I have had or the Performance MX I have at work. So it isn't like I am new to the free scroll, something just seems off. Not sure if I am missing a setting in setpoint or if it is something else.

Anyway thought I would check to see what other people's experiences have been with it. Other than those issues so far I am pretty happy, but still haven't had much of a chance to use it so I am looking forward to playing some games with it.

Thanks.

The weight cartridges on both of mine pop right out when the button is pressed. Sounds like yours is defective. As for the wheel, I don't have any issues like that, but it's possible that you're just moving the wheel around very slightly after you stop it, and the mouse is registering that motion.

I think the weight cartridge thing definitely sounds like an issue. I would agree with Zero82z though as far as the free scroll thing goes.

I have the same problem with my g500 with the "auto scrolling" effect. It drives me crazy, so I usually pick the mouse up and slam it on the desk then it will work fine for a little while. How do you change from free spinning to make the mouse wheel click? My method of slamming it down does change it, but i'd like to know if there is a right way of doing it.

The little button just below the scroll wheel toggles between free scroll and click... It took me a while to figure this out....

I have an issue after owning it for almost 2 years. It used to work great up until recently I noticed that when I am playing Counter Strike Source, if I try to do a very rapid 180 turn around it will stutter really bad and will only make it 90 degrees of the way if that. I have tried cleaning the lense, reinstalling drivers, updating drivers, changing a bunch of settings and nothing has turned up. Any help would be appreciated I don't want to buy a new mouse unless i absolutely need to.

And for OP, the free scroll issue I have that too, it is just because the wheel when if free scroll is super sensitive almost like its on a lubed ball bearing :D. I rarely ever use free scroll.
