I heard the tracking sucks on the G5 laser mouse. I notice when using my mouse that I feel slight hesitation when using the mouse slowly in windows. I never noticed this on my MX510. Its very slight.. but its there.. It almost feels like an old ball mouse pad that when moving slow gets stuck very slightly.
I'm using a everglide giganta mouse pad optical smove.

http://www.everglide.com/ GO to products and optical smoke.

SO is anyone else noticing any problems with their G5. I wondering if its the dreaded tracking problem that these G5 laser mouses are having.

yeah, get this: my g5 doesnt track AT ALL on an icemat. color doesnt matter.

how is it that any other optical or laser mouse that i have used will track an icemat, but not the g5?

g5 FOR THE LOSE.

Your mouse doesn't move or it moves but is choppy?

Are you going to return it or something?

The G5 laser is picky. I'm still using my everglide attack black Unreal Tournament (the original) branded pad from years ago and it tracks perfectly. Basically, the less dark and the more slick the pad the more likely you'll have problems with the G5 tracking.

btw incredible mouse. Upgraded from the MX510 and the tilt function on the scroll wheel (set for leaning in FPS), the adjustable DPI on the fly with visual indicator, and the weight system make the price completely justifiable. I bought one to just test it out to see what the fuss was about but half a day in I knew it was never going back.

I love my G5 I haven't had a track problem like you said, I am running it on a dark wood with a textured laminate though. BTW, what weight settings do you have? Im using the heaviest I can go, Im doing that to strengthen my hand, then Im going to lower the weight, so my reflexes are faster....

Well, that's an idea but you're increasing the potential of wrist injury with the weight jacked up. I use 1.7G x6, 3 on each side. Works really well. Gives the mouse enough heft to be useful at high DPI but not so much that it requires anything more than twitch to move.

Mine works like a champ. Can't remember the brand of gaming mouse pad that i have, but its set up on the slick side for FPS games. Its black with a blue border. You can actually flip the black portion of it to smooth and rough. No tracking problems whatsoever.

Ratpadz RS here .. and it works like a charm. Best mouse IMHO. Upgrade from MX1000 and will never go back. Not even for a G7.

my g5 seems fine

tho i can tell you if you were to actualy READ REVIEWS

they will tell you lazer mice have a.......finikyness to them

i perfer my mx510 blue to it IMO, only cause the thumb buttons, other then that i love this mouse........tho id rather trade it + cash for a G-15 or same for a G-7 :(
